Officer 1806

Officers’ collars were open at the neck and very high. This officer of the King’s Regiment has two gold lace loops on each side of the collar and similar loops were exposed by folding back the lapels of the jacket. These blue lapels were only folded back at the top; the double-breasted jacket, from mid chest down, was fastened to the waist with buttons. This was the method of wearing the jacket on dress occasions; on field days it was buttoned over. The gold epaulette on his right shoulder has a bullion fringe. Flank company officers wore elaborate gold wings on both shoulders. A white leather shoulder belt supports his sword. The gilt belt plate has the regimental badge.
