Band Sergeant 1916

The band sergeant, on the left, shakes hands and holds up the Victoria Cross medal awarded to Private Arthur Procter following his bravery in 1916. The sergeant’s rank badges are on both sleeves, but his right sleeve has a band badge above the chevrons, a crowned lyre with oak leaves, as seen in the inset.
