Colour Presentation 1958

When the King’s Liverpool Regiment amalgamated with the Manchester Regiment on 2 September 1958, new Colours had to be prepared. On 24 November 1958 the presentation took place at Warley Barracks, Brentwood, Essex. The Earl of Derby, Lord Lieutenant of Lancaster, is seen here presenting the Regimental Colour, on behalf of the Queen Mother, Colonel-in-Chief of the Regiment. Receiving the Colour is 2nd Lieutenant G Herring. The other side of the drums can be seen another junior officer with the newly received Queen’s Colour (Elizabeth II). This is the 1st Battalion, The King’s Regiment (Manchester & Liverpool).
