Raising the Regiment

This painting by Terence Cuneo shows soldiers of Luttrell’s Regiment taking the ‘King’s Shilling’ and being issued with pikes and muskets. The uniform was based on the Luttrell livery, blue with yellow facings. The regimental record books give details of the early uniform; wide brimmed black hat with yellow band, blue coat with yellow cuffs, blue breeches, grey stockings, black shoes. Belts were of brown leather.
