Based on a book by Rider Haggard

A ripping yarn production of the Rider Haggard classic book. It's a surprisingly entertaining film in the best tradition of its Hammer makers. The storyline tells the tale of a group of three Englishmen lured to find a lost city in the African desert ruled by the beautiful, 2000 year old, tyrantess Ayesha. The film is concerned with romance to a much greater extent than the novel ever was. Inaccuracies and deviations aside, this film is a highly enjoyable and entertaining film with some useful performances and interesting sets. Well worth a peek.
