Sir Charles Orr's Memoirs Volume 3

Place Viger Hotel

Place Viger was a combined railway station and hotel constructed in 1898 and named after Jacques Viger, the first Mayor of Montreal. Although combined stations and hotels were common in the United Kingdom in the late 19th century, Place Viger was the only such combination in Canada. The photograph below was taken in 1901 the year that the author and his men stayed at the hotel.
