| Valentine and his wife Fanny were married in Dec 1865 and had two daughters, Hermione and Sybil. Hermione, the eldest, was born in 1867. She was said to have been the fiancé of Lord Kitchener although he is generally assumed to have been homosexual. Hermione, called ‘Mione' by her family, suffered poor health in the last years of her life, and finally died on 23 Jan 1885 in Egypt. |
