Field Cap 1894

The 1883 Dress Regulations mentions a Forage Cap for active service and peace manoeuvres which was of blue cloth for the 10th Hussars, with gold French braid welts. This was also worn by the dragoon and dragoon guard regiments. In 1894 the Field Cap was introduced which was scarlet for most of the hussar regiments (crimson for the 11th and blue and white for the 13th). This style was long lasting and is still worn by officers and senior NCOs today. The edges of the side flaps and the top seams are edged with gold French braid, and there are two small regimental buttons at the front, gilt with a silver Plume badge. The cap badge worn on the left side is the PoW Plume and motto in silver with a gilt coronet. This style of badge was the first pattern. The 1900 Dress Regulations describes the Field Cap badge as having the regimental title scroll below the Plume and coronet.
