Officer’s Shabraque Badge 1883

In 1883 the officers’ horse furniture had a radical makeover so that the shabraque was changed from dark blue to scarlet. The hind part is seen here: the Guelphic Victorian crown at the top, then the Prince of Wales Plume with motto, regimental title, and a capital H. Inside the title scroll is a Roman numeral X, but the earlier blue shabraque had a 10. This embroidery was repeated on the other side of the horse.
