Trumpeter c1880

The 10th served in the Afghan War of 1878-80 wearing khaki tunics and blue breeches as seen here. This trumpeter holds a trumpet strung with the royal coloured cords and tassels but there is no sign of his bugle. He is armed with a sword and pistol, the latter in a holster on his waist-belt, and having a lanyard to retain it. There is a pouch for ammunition on his waist-belt as well as the ammunition pouch at the back of his pouch-belt. He has a haversack slung on his right shoulder, and there should be a water-bottle next to it. This uniform was also worn in the Sudan in 1884.
