Trumpeter, Khaki Service Dress 1920

The 10th Hussars returned to England in 1919 after serving abroad for nearly 20 years. Dress uniform had been discontinued except for the band on special occasions, so that khaki service dress was the norm. Cavalrymen were distinguished by the well polished leather ammunition belt that was worn on the left shoulder. The trumpeter holds a bugle which has the royal coloured cords and tassels attached. The tassels hang from his right shoulder where there is also a white lanyard. Unfortunately we cannot see if he has a crossed trumpet badge on his right upper sleeve.
