Drum Banner 1927

This is one of the red drum banners that were produced in 1911 but with the WW1 battle honours added to fill the space either side. The other drum banner was identical. The re-worked banners were introduced in 1927 to be ready for the Lord Mayor’s Show in December. The emblazoned new battle honours are 10 of the 19 that the regiment won in the First World War. They are placed on gold embroidered oak leaves as befits a Royal regiment. The two royal symbols of the rising sun and red griffin/dragon are either side of the central device of the Prince of Wales’s Plume.
