Officer’s Sabretache 1820 - 30

When the Prince Regent came to the throne on 29 Jan 1820 there would have been a discussion about a change of title for the 10th Hussars. But as the 15th Hussars already had the title of ‘King’s’ the 10th would be expected to retain ‘Prince of Wales’s’ in their title. To make this clear, the three feathers and ICH DIEN motto were added to the design, behind the Guelphic crown. The cypher now changed from GP (George Princeps) to GR (George Rex). The basic shape of the cypher looked similar but tails had been added to the two reverse Ps. PENINSULA and WATERLOO were the only battle honours at this stage and have been placed at the base in a more considered fashion. The gold lace around the edge is straight vellum pattern.
