Seit Ali

This painting by Orlando Norie was reproduced in the Journal of the Society for Army Historical Research vol XVII no. 67 in 1938. The artist has put plumes on the hussars’ shakos which would have been incorrect as they were in marching order. The figures in the background probably represent the rest of the force, with cossacks further in the distance. The action at Seit Ali was the first time that the 10th Hussars had been engaged in a battle (apart from riot control) since Waterloo 40 years previously.
