Cecil Mangles CB


Cecil Mangles was born in 1842 the son of Charles Edward Mangles and Rose Mangles. He was one of 9 children. He lived at Alton in Hampshire and Hale in Surrey. He was married to Francis, daughter of Daniel Mahoney of Dunloe Castle, High Sheriff of Killarney. She was the widow of Captain Fagan of the 12th Lancers, and they married in 1891. Cecil Mangles commanded the 20th Hussars from Feb 1883 and led the regiment in the Sudan for which he was awarded the CB. He reached the rank of major-general and died on 20 Oct 1906.
