Storming of Khelat

After the successful installation of Shah Shujah, the bulk of the British forces began to leave. But as they did so, they took the opportunity to attack those tribes who had been raiding the supply trains and causing problems for the communications lines. Sir John Keane's retreating force stopped by Khelat to try and impose order on the unruly tribesmen there. Major-General Willshire drove the defenders from nearby hills and stormed the fortress. Mehrab Khan was killed and Shah Newaz Khan installed in his place.
