SS Uganda

SS Uganda had been a children's cruise ship for educational trips when war broke. It was quickly converted into a hospital ship in three days at Gibraltar before sailing South with the Task Force. She ws prominently marked with hospital insignia and treated British and Argentine forces according to their surgical need. She regularly rendezvoused with Argentine hospital ships to transfer patients. Others were despatched to Montevideo for further treatment. In reference to the TV series M*A*S*H she was nicknamed NOSH - Naval Ocean-going Surgical Hospital.
