First Life Guards

Corporal, 1828

A print by E. Hull. The full caption is 'Corporal - Kings Guard Order'. NCOs in the Household cavalry have always been called Corporal instead of Sergeant. Even warrant officers are called corporal-major instead of sergeant-major. They are also denoted in full dress by the size of their aiguillettes which are hung from the left shoulder (officer's are hung from the right shoulder).
