The 1871 Albert helmet is basically the same for the three regiments of Household Cavalry. This example from W Y Carman's collection is Victorian. Its unpolished state gives us a clearer idea of the detail. It is white metal with brass fittings, the garter star being white metal. The white horsehair plume is easily detachable.
