7th Hussars

Corporal 1901

Not all soldiers wore the foreign service helmet in the Boer War. The slouch hat, seen here, was more popular. The pouchbelt was at last abandoned for the bandolier and the carbine exchanged for an infantry style Lee-Metford rifle which underlined the 7th's role as more mounted infantry than cavalry.
