Private, Drill Order 1846

This image is a copy of one of the figures in a composite print of Hussars by M A Hayes. The private wears stable dress with pouch-belt, sword and sabretache. The pouch-belt has an extension to hook on to the carbine. His pouch is plain black leather, as is the sabretache which is suspended from two slings. His peakless forage cap has a yellow cap-band and a tourie on the top which in some versions of the print appears as red. Also, in some versions, the figure is wearing a barrel sash around his waist.
