Queen's Own Hussars

Service Dress c1964

Around 1963 the battledress was replaced by the khaki service dress referred to as no.2 dress. On parade, scarlet forage caps were worn but for walking out the scarlet field service cap was more practical. Photos of this item are rare and it seems that it did not last long for other ranks. The red Mermaid of Warsaw badge can be seen on his left sleeve and the collar badges in gold and silver metal. He has a cloth belt but on parade the white plastic one was worn with staybright rectangular buckle. Shoes are worn here instead of the leather-soled hob-nail boots.
