Queen's Own Hussars

Other Ranks, Combat c1973

The regiment served in Northern Ireland in 1972, 73, 77 and 79, in the infantry role. Instead of their usual Sterling sub-machineguns they are armed with 7.62mm SLR rifles. They wear DPM (Disruptive Pattern Material) and heavy flak jackets. They have the staybright QOH badges on their berets at this stage. On later tours of duty in NI they wore blackened badges.
