Grenadier 1751

Morier's painting of the Buffs grenadier shows the coat buttoned up so that the buff lapels were mostly hidden. The white lace was decorated with a triple coloured edge; black (or dark blue) on the outside, red, then buff leaving a white space in the middle. The mitre cap worn by the grenadiers had a buff front with a green dragon embroidered in the middle. The white horse of Hanover was on the red turned-up peak with the motto NEC ASPERA TERRENT, and the crown on the upper part was in red, yellow and colours.
