Officers, Full Dress c1890

This group of officers from the 1st Battalion wear the white facings that were adopted from 1881 to 1913. The seated officers at the front all seem to be wearing boots and breeches except the bearded field officer and the regimental surgeon on the left. The chin-chains are all worn hooked up to the top of the helmet. The Colours are carried by two ensigns at the back.

The bearded field officer is in levee dress. The sash on his left shoulder is gold and crimson silk and his sword belt is gold laced. The other officers have a plain crimson sash and white leather belts. The officer seated two places to the right of him is half turned and shows a plain black leather sabretache.
