Major, Undress c1890

This officer wears an infantry peaked forage cap, made of blue cloth with a black oak-leaf lace band. The peak is decorated with gold embroidery and a metal regimental badge is placed on the front. The 1891 Dress Regulations stipulate a blue cloth welt around the top of the cap for junior officers and a gold French braid welt for field officers.

The jacket is a blue patrol jacket with black mohair lace and braiding. It was similar to the hussar pattern tunic but with 4 rows of *AEflat plait*O. This jacket was common to all officers throughout the army as it had no regimental devices.
