Service Dress 1965

The khaki service dress is worn by two soldiers of the South Wales Borderers photographed in Korea in 1965, four years before amalgamation with the Welch Regiment. The curious thing is the cap badge which is not the Sphinx in the wreath of Immortelles, but the Prince of Wales feathers. This badge, worn by all ranks, must have been adopted circa 1960 for some reason. It had to be changed to the more full version of the feathers badge after amalgamation in 1969. The cap is blue with a black cap-band and red welt on the top edge. The jacket has collar badges which consist of a wreath and the numerals XXIV inside. On the upper sleeve are badges for the Honour Guard.
