6th Gurkhas

Naik, c1935

The 'hat felt Gurkha' worn here replaced the bush hat that tended to become shapeless. This hat is still used today in service dress. it is made by pushing one felt hat inside another slightly larger hat. A close inspection of the rim will show a line along the middle. I don't know what is kept in the long pouch on his hip.
