| The 17th Lancers were titled Duke of Cambridge’s Own from 1876. This brass lance cap has the letters D C O in gothic script on either side and beneath the deaths head badge. The battle honour CENTRAL INDIA can be seen on the left of the plate, awarded on 12 Mar 1879, and the honour for their service in the Zulu War, SOUTH AFRICA 1879, awarded on 25 Jul 1882, which can be seen on the right corner of the plate. |
