Queen's Own Hussars

Band 1959

The Queen Mother is seen talking to the bass drummer Lance Corporal Sweetenham on the occasion of the presentation of the guidon on 20th March 1959. The band are in no.1 dress as was the rest of the regiment. The musician on the right of the picture wears a white leather pouch-belt which has brass buckle tip and slide. The pouch itself is of black leather with an edging of double gold Russia braid, and a QO badge with 7th HUSSARS on a scroll beneath. He and the bass drummer have gold embroidered band badges on their upper arms. The bandmaster is wearing a frock coat and it looks as if he does not have the red collar that was worn later.
