Queen's Own Hussars

Band Corporal, May 1985

This photo shows the band pouch-belt of the QOH. The black leather pouch worn in the early years had the old 7th Hussars badge with the guelphic crown over the cypher but here it is topped with the QEII crown and inscribed QUEEN'S OWN HUSSARS. The corporal has gold lace chevrons on scarlet cloth backing. The regimental NCO's badge is embroidered in silver and gold on a garter blue backing. It is worn like this in full dress; in no.1 and no.2 dress a metal version is worn. The photo was taken from 'Cavalry Warrant Officers and NCOs Arm Badges' by David Linaker and Gordon Dine who explain that the reproduction was taken from a colour negative, causing the red collar to look darker than the blue tunic.
