Mounted Trumpeter 1880

Simkin's painting of a Bays trumpeter gives a clear idea of the colouring of the uniform. The facings and aiguilettes are white as well as the trumpet cords. This is unusual because the Queen's Bays were entitled to have the trumpet cords and tassels in the royal colours of blue red and yellow. Non-royal regiments had green cords. The pouchbelt with its central red flask cord is clear in this painting. The helmet is now the 1871 version, with white plume.
