Drumhorse 1937

This original photo from Godfrey Brennan's album is captioned Trumpet-major Rutherford on Prince 27 Oct 1937 although it is reproduced in Ian Maine's book on Aldershot as being 1936 when a parade marked the mechanisation of the regiment while they were quartered at Willems Barracks. The same drum banner that is now in the museum is seen here, with the shabraque. The horse is controlled by stirrup reins.' All the other pictures of the drumhorse show the drummer without gloves but Rutherford has gauntlets in this photo.'
