Royal Standard c1890

The order of 1858 to limit the dragoon guards to one Standard was probably not put into effect until they returned from India in 1870. The date of this standard, one of a series of cigarette cards, is not known but was in use around 1890 when the Queen's Bays had only one battle honour for LUCKNOW which they were granted in 1863. It definitely dates between then and the end of the 19th century because it is Victorian, as can be seen by the VR cypher in the centre, and the Queen Victoria crown above the central device.
