Drum Major and Pipers 2016

The uniform of the Drum Major in this recent photo shows a radical change on the uniform. The pipers have glengarry caps with a white hackle. This may be undress, and the feather bonnet worn for dress occasions. So the drum-major's uniform may be an adaptation of no.1 dress. The doublet has shoulder chains and he has a pouchbelt instead of the drum-major's embroidered sash. Instead of overalls with a double yellow tripe he has Royal Stewart trews. His headgear is a Kilmarnock bonnet with yellow zig-zag, red tourie, and a white hackle. His sword is slung from a white waistbelt and has a gold sword knot which appears to be the officer's type, shaped like a thistle. They are watched by the men of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards who wear no.1 dress.
