The Gordons

On the March

It is doubtful that the Gordon Highlanders would have march in such close order, they are probably crowded together for the photo. The leader seems to be the CO Lieut-Col Mathias, wearing breeches and puttees instead of a kilt. The man behind him appears to carry a flag so is probably a signaller. The CO does not have a sword but one of the officers next to him has his claymore and is wearing an overcoat as are some of the other men.
