HM King Edward VII


Edward was 59 when he came to the throne, and reigned for 10 years, during which time he was Colonel-in-Chief of the four regiments of Foot Guards . He had already been Colonel-in-Chief of the Household Cavalry, since 1880 and before that the Rifle Brigade since 1868. He held positions as Honorary Colonel of many regiments, including foreign regiments such as the Danish Hussars of the Guard in which uniform he is photographed here c1892.
