This photo was published in the Daily Telegraph on 20th October 1952. General Erskine is presenting the British Empire Medal to WRAC Sergeant M Howie at the Tower of London the previous day. He was a Lieut-General at that date and was General Officer Commander-in-Chief Eastern Command. Behind him is an officer of the King's Royal Rifle Corps.
