The King's Royal Rifle Corps

Riflemen in South Africa

The men with their mud caked boots look tired and dirty from the arduous campaigning of the Boer War. The leather belts and rifle slings are no longer shiny black but more of a dull brown so that they stand out less against the dusty landscape. One of the men's waterbottles has the letters KRR which indicates the regiment. They are holding their Lee Enfield rifles muzzle downwards to prevent the rain from rusting the barrel.
