Astley Fellowes Terry


This photo was taken in India in 1863 when Astley Terry was a Lieutenant and Adjutant of the 3rd battalion. He wears a loose fitting white tropical uniform with a black mourning arm band. He entered the 60th Rifles as an ensign in April 1855 and was adjutant from 1863 to 1865. He served in the latter part of the Zulu War. He rose to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel and commanded the 4th Battalion for a short period from Oct 1885 to January 1886.
