The Northumberland Fusiliers

1st Battalion Colours 1911

These Colours were presented to the 1st Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers at Delhi on 11th Dec 1911. They replaced the 1878 Colours. The wreaths of red and white roses were used to decorate the Colours on St George's day. The central device of the Regimental Colour was the badge of St George while the centre of the King's Colour simply has the battalion number. The gosling green facing colour was restored in 1902 to replace the white facings imposed on the regiment in 1881, so the new regimental Colour has gosling green as the basic colour. After World War 1 the Union flag of the King's Colour was emblazoned with ten of the battle honours.
