The Northumberland Fusiliers

Lieut-General Frederick Arthur Willis CB

Lieutenant-General Willis was Colonel of the Northumberland Fusiliers from 4th March 1895 to 28th May 1899. This photo was taken on St George's Day, 23rd April 1898, at Portland where the 2nd Battalion were stationed. The officers and men all wore red and white roses to celebrate the anniversary. General Willis presented the officer's mess with a massive antique vase in honour of the occasion.
