| John Collins joined the 1st Battalion Queen's in 1869 and held the post of adjutant from 1878 to 1881. He served in the Burmah Expedition of 1886-89 with the 2nd battalion. He took command of the 1st Battalion in Sept 1896 and commanded them in the Malakand and Tirah Field Forces with great skill and efficiency. The photo shows him with his fellow officers on the North West Frontier. |
