Other Rank's Glengarry and Collar Badges

The Queen's Royal West Surrey Regiment holds the record for the longest lasting Colours. The Royal Colour is seen here, usually called the Queen's Colour but was re-titled according to the 1844 Royal Warrant. This photo was taken at the regimental Museum at Clandon Park and shows the Royal Colour, being the Union Flag with the ten emblazoned battle honours for World War 1. These honours were, of course, added to the Colour after the war.

The Royal and the Regimental Colours were presented to the regiment in 1847 on 10th July by Lady Augusta Fitzclarence, at Gosport. They were to last until 10th July 1947 when they were replaced by new Colours in Singapore. A full description of the Colours is given on the regimental website.
