Officer's Cap Badge

The badge of the Order of the Thistle remained the emblem of the Royal Scots for well over a hundred years. The badge changed shape slightly so that it became more of a diamond shape. This was used on the forage cap which was the undress cap during the period that the regiment wore helmets in full dress. 'When the Kilmarnock replaced the helmet in 1903 the same badge was used on that as well as the glengarry which replaced the forage cap as an undress item.
