Private R Dunshire VC



Private Robert Dunshire was with the 13th Battalion Royal Scots on Hill 70 in France. On 26th Sep 1915 he rescued a wounded man under fire and then rescued another who was quite near the German lines. For both actions he showed great bravery in the face of enemy rifle fire and was awarded a VC. He was born in Buckhaven, Fife on 24th Nov 1891. He was promoted to Corporal after his award but was killed at Mazingarbe, France on 30th Jan 1916.
