The Yeomanry

Officer and Men c1850

The officer is in a the plain dark blue frock coat adopted in 1834. He wears his barrel sash over the coat and carried his sword slung on black leather straps. His pouch-belt is the silver laced dress belt but he has the undress black pouch on his back. The scarlet and silver waistcoat can be seen at the neck. The sergeant and privates in stable dress have their pistols hanging from their pouch-belt. Their scarlet forage caps have only a white button in the middle, and a welt of white around the edge. This would have been observed by the artist M Angelo Hayes who worked in this period.
