Officer’s Jacket c1824

A blue and red light dragoon style jacket worn by most of the cavalry in the King’s Cheshire Legion. The red collar and cuffs are laced and braided in silver. The plastron front imitates wide lapels buttoned back but is in fact a separate piece of material. The silver buttons are ball shaped and have the Prince of Wales plume badge. The lower part of the plastron tucks under the gold laced girdle so the buttons are flat. The Lancer Troop had a similar jacket but with shorter tails. The Stockport Troop had a hussar jacket. The detail shown below gives a clearer idea of the unusual braiding on the collar.
