Officers’ Busbies, Right Side and Front

Two different busbies are shown here to illustrate the difference in busby bags. The left-hand photo is of a black fur busby with a plain bag. It is short and narrow, quite unlike the busby bags worn by the regular hussars regiments. In this museum exhibit the plaited silver cords are incorrectly placed on top of the busby. The busby on the left, probably dates later, around 1910. The plume this time was of ostrich feathers, but still having red vulture feathers at the base. Although this is a front view it is still clear that the white busby bag has silver braid and a silver gimp button.
