Dress Sabretache, Second Pattern 1849 - 1856

This second pattern dress sabretache is better known than the first. It was worn with the officer’s light dragoon uniform during the short period from 1849 but may have appeared later to replace the first pattern. The lace around the edge is broken bias pattern, used on other items of dress such as the shako and belts. The Prince of Wales plume is embroidered large in the middle and the Earl’s coronet sits at the top. The dress sabretache was discontinued in 1856 when the regiment changed their uniform from the short-tailed coatee to the tunic.
